A rotary pump in a home machine
Almost every machine under two thousand dollars uses a vibratory pump — cheaper, smaller, and audible from the next room. A rotary pump is what commercial machines use: quieter, smoother pressure, and built to run all day rather than for thirty seconds at a time.
How it works
Two separate boilers mean brewing and steaming are fully independent, each held at its own temperature, with no waiting and no compromise between the two. The rotary pump delivers brew pressure with less noise and less pulsation than a vibratory pump, which is the difference you notice first and the one you keep noticing.

Who it suits
A good fit if you make milk drinks and espresso in the same session, pump noise bothers you, and you intend this to be the last machine you buy for a long time.
Consider another machine if you want a machine with a long public service history and a large parts supply — Meraki is a newer name than Rancilio or Gaggia, and that is worth weighing at this price.
